GET YOUR BOOK PUBLISHED NOW

If you are a new author trying to get your book published, you already know the awful truth about the book publishing industry.

They don't want your book.

And, it has nothing to do with the quality of the work.  The sad fact is, the doors to the big publishing houses are closed to all but the luckiest of new writers.

This is because the big houses treat books like a commodity, not a work of art, a source of information or a flame of inspiration.  They might as well be selling cheese or cell phones.

What they want is a book that fits a certain prescribed formula that is guaranteed to generate a specific amount of sales for their investment.

Part of this formula includes giving preference to people who are already famous. If you are a star athlete you can get a book deal, even if you can't write a coherent sentence.  If you've been involved in a major sex scandal, they'll sign you up in a heartbeat with a huge advance.

If you don't belong to one of those categories, you might still have a chance. Most book publishers will look at your manuscript if you have an agent.  The trouble is, most agents won't look at your work unless you've already published a successful book.

So what do you do?  Do you continue to beat your head against an impenetrable brick wall?  You could spend hundreds of dollars to mail out your manuscript and endure years of rejection and frustration.  Or you could just give up and stick your dream in a drawer.

You spent a lot of time, perhaps years, writing your book.  You put your heart and soul into it.  Perhaps you have an important message to share with the world.

Your book deserves a better fate.

Fortunately, there is a way to publish your book, one that offers many advantages over the traditional approach to becoming a published author.

What I am talking about is co-op publishing, in which the author and the publisher become partners. Many of the world's top authors first published this way. Such blockbuster hits as  Looking Out for Number 1, The Celestine Prophecies and the multi-million selling Chicken Soup series were initially funded in whole or in part by the authors which is the same thing we help you do at Peterson Publishing Group.

Once they become successful, many authors continue to co-op publish even though they have the big publishing houses chasing after them.

Why would they do that, you might ask?

One of the many reasons is that even if you do get a book deal, most traditional publishing houses move very slowly.  They are large bureaucracies in which most manuscripts first pass through low-paid underlings whose job it is to reject any unsolicited manuscript automatically.  If by some fluke, your book survives this meat grinder, it must make its slow, painful way up the corporate ladder until it finally lands on the desk of someone who can agree to accept your book.  If that person should leave for a job with another publishing house, which happens quite often, your book becomes
orphaned and the whole slow process starts all over again.

If your book surmounts these hurdles, it may take them a year or more to decide to publish it and another year or two after that before they release it.  SO WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO BE DOING FOR THREE YEARS?

Do you really want to wait that long?  Even if you are a very patient person, the elements that make your book a viable, important contribution today, may be irrelevant three years from now.  If you've written a hi-tech book, for example, the material in it could be completely outdated.

But let's say that these obstacles don't apply to you.  There is still another important consideration to look at.  The books of new, unproven authors are seldom actively marketed or promoted.  The famous author and lecturer Dr. Wayne Dyer (who wrote Your Erroneous Zones, Pulling Your Own Strings and The Sky's The Limit) found this out the hard way.  His first book languished on the shelves of the few stores that had it.  Unwilling to let his important work fade away, Dr. Dyer bought up the entire first print run
of his book and traveled the country with his books in his car, appearing on every small-town talk show that would have him.  He made his book a hit, not the publisher.

So you can see that taking the traditional approach to book publishing has a lot of pitfalls.

Well guess what, there's still another important reason to consider co-op publishing.  Money.  Authors who co-op publish often make much more money from their work.  Did you know that most traditional publishers pay only 6% to 7% on the wholesale price of the book?

As a co-op author, you get a much larger share of the profits.

Now you might be thinking, if co-op authors can make more money, why not publish it myself and keep all of the profits?  You can do that, but there are many pitfalls.  Who will design a professional cover?  Where can you get the best price on printing your book while maintaining the quality?  Then once you have your book, you need to find distributors because the retail chains won't deal with you directly.  Then you need a professional publicist to arrange those vital book reviews and newspaper, magazine and talk show interviews.  Unfortunately, these doors are usually closed to small publishing houses and self-publishers.

That's why you need a publishing partner.

And that's what Peterson Publishing Group is about. We work with you to help make your book a success.  We are not a Vanity Publisher, that is, an outfit that makes you pay all of the costs of printing your books, ships them to you and then leaves it up to you to find a way to sell them.

Our publishing team shares the costs with you, which means we have a very good reason to help make your book a success.  Because of our experience and expertise, we have the tools to do just that.  We already have strong alliances with book distributors, book stores, key people in the media and much more.

We work with you to create an attractive, eye-catching book that you will be proud of.  Then we develop a marketing campaign to help you get book signings, newspaper, magazine and talk show interviews and placement in a wide range of book outlets.

If this sounds exciting to you, great.  We want you to be excited because this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

But please keep in mind that we are legitimate publishers who have helped hundreds of people see their publishing dreams come true.

Because we are in the publishing business to make money, we cannot accept every manuscript we receive.  Fortunately, about 75% of them do have the potential to be successful books.  Some could even become blockbusters.

Could yours be one of them?  You'll never know unless you try.
